Muscle Spasms

One of the most fundamental physical principles of the Universe is that structure determines function

When the structure of the spine or the body is misaligned then the muscles have to function abnormally. This can often result in tight muscles and muscle spasms.

Muscle spasms are the body's innate ability to create a splint around a joint and reduce movement to reduce the chance of further damage to a joint. This allows the joint to heal and reduces inflammation. Muscle spasms can also be the result of trauma.

Back to Health Practitioners are trained to assess the structure of the body and identify areas of muscle spasm and strain. We then use many different techniques such as ice, heat, massage and gentle manipulation of the soft tissues to reduce any inflammation. Chiropractors will focus on correcting any underlying misalignments in the body to address the underlying causes of muscle strains and spasms.
